The Hadith "The Best Remembrance Is 'There Is No Deity Worthy of Worship Except Allah'" حديث «أفضل الذكر لا إله إلا الله، وأفضل الدعاء الحمد لله»
Questioner: May Allah pardon you: is the hadith "The best remembrance is 'There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah,' and the best supplication is 'All praise is due to Allah'" authentic?
[This was asked together with questions on "reduce and hasten" and on tadlis al-taswiyah.]
As for the hadith in the brother's question, "The best remembrance is 'There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah,' and the best supplication is 'All praise is due to Allah'": the hadith is in al-Tirmidhi, and it has a hidden defect ('illah).

السائل: عفا الله عنك، هل يصح حديث (أفضل الذكر لا إله إلا الله وأفضل الدعاء الحمد لله)؟
[سُئل هذا مع سؤالين عن مسألة ضع وتعجل وعن تدليس التسوية.]
أما بالنسبة لحديث سؤال الأخ (أفضل الذكر لا إله إلا الله وأفضل الدعاء الحمد لله) فالحديث عند الترمذي وله علة.
